Student Art

The artwork on this page is a culmination of a variety of styles, mediums, and techniques my students have used to express themselves.

They were inspired by the many cultural ideas and concepts they learned about in class, as well as their own life experiences.

I am always amazed and humbled by the way they interpret the assignments they are given during the school year and am proud of their accomplishments.

I am blessed to have the honor of sharing my knowledge with them as they each explore their unique creative abilities.

I will be adding more student artwork in the future on this page.

Mandalas

Mandala is an ancient Indian Sanskrit term and concept which translates to the word “circle” in English. They are prevalent throughout nature in forms such as the head of a sunflower, snowflakes, tree rings, the human eye, blood cells, DNA, etc. Mandalas are also works of art and have been used symbolically for centuries in architecture, art, artifacts, and sacred structures around the world.

These student Mandalas are inspired by the four directions (North, South, East, and West) and the four attributes of a person (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). They express a variety of concepts using symbols, designs, and imagery and were created with colored pencil.

Ceramic Art

These ceramic projects were inspired by a variety of themes such as emotions, animal totems, cultures, mythology, etc. and the students created them using clay, glaze, paint and other materials.
